Luciana was raised in Rome by her parents - Luciana's father was Manlio Paoluzzi an Italian Army officer, and her mom was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was at one time Benito Mussolini's lover's wives. No information is available about having siblings. She was in a local high school. Upon matriculating in 1955 she studied naval engineering at the Scientific Academy of Milan - Luciana was the sole female in her class.
